PCB Reacts to Champions Trophy 2025 Schedule: “Equality & Respect Are Key”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the much-anticipated schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025, set to kick off on February 19. This announcement is a landmark event for the cricketing world, with Pakistan poised to host its first major ICC tournament since the 1996 World Cup.

The tournament will be held in a hybrid format, showcasing matches across Pakistan and Dubai, with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hailing it as a proud and historic moment. Speaking on the milestone, Naqvi expressed his optimism:

“We are pleased that this agreement is built on principles of equality and respect, reflecting the collaborative spirit of our sport. Hosting the Champions Trophy marks a major achievement for Pakistan cricket.”

Champions Trophy 2025: Schedule Highlights

The eight-team tournament will feature 29 matches and culminate on March 9, with the final to be hosted in Lahore or Dubai, depending on India’s qualification. If India reaches the final, it will be held in Dubai; otherwise, the historic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the concluding clash.

Pakistan to Host Majority of Matches

Pakistan will host the majority of matches, with key venues including:

  • Rawalpindi
  • Lahore
  • Karachi

The opening match will be played in Karachi between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19, while other fixtures involving Pakistan will include high-stakes encounters at various domestic venues.

India’s Matches Moved to Dubai

All of India’s matches will be held in Dubai, ensuring both logistical and security considerations are addressed. India’s opening game is scheduled against Bangladesh on February 20, followed by their much-anticipated showdown with Pakistan on February 23.

Naqvi also extended his gratitude to the ICC for the decision to allow Pakistan to co-host the Champions Trophy with Dubai. He underlined the nation’s commitment to cricket:
